Dr Oprikov graduated from the Thracian University in Bulgaria in 1996. After working in a mixed animal practice for a few years back home. Dr O moved to Canada in 2007 where he obtained a Certificate of Qualification from Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. Dr O worked in some small animal clinics in Alberta, the last one was his own practice which he ran for over 10 years.

In 2017 Dr O moved to NSW with his family- his wife, three kids and their Maine Coon cat named Hattrick. Dr O enjoys Veterinary medicine and in particular small animal dentistry and internal medicine. He enjoys outdoor activities in his free time- Soccer and skiing are his favourites.

Dr Amanda Wong
Dr Amanda WongSenior Veterinary Surgeon
Amanda joined the team at Balgownie Veterinary Hospital in December 2014.

Amanda grew up on a farm in Tasmania where her love of animals turned into a dream to become a vet. After completing her veterinary degree through Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Amanda worked as a mixed practice vet in Tasmania prior to re-locating to the South Coast to pursue the diversity of small animals and hobby pets. Amanda’s particular interests include dermatology, surgical cases and working up challenging medical cases.

Outside of work Amanda enjoys running and spending time with her husband and young Border Collie, Hank.

Natasha Atallah
Natasha AtallahVeterinary Nurse
Natasha (Tash) has been with Balgownie Veterinary Hospital for a few years now.

She has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Last year, she completed a diploma in practice management through the University of New England, Armidale NSW.

She hails from Harden, NSW but has decided to settle here after realizing the NSW South Coast is just too irresistible (along with her partner who works close by!)

Teenea Muslu

Teenea joined Balgownie Veterinary Hospital in 2009. She has a wealth of experience as a veterinary nurse and keeps us all on our toes!

She is like a whirlwind around the practice ensuring the hospital is spotless and clean, and the shelves stocked with your favourite Royal Canin food and other essential items for your pets.

She juggles her role as inventory manager with other nursing skills in the surgery ensuring your pet is comfortable if he/ she has a stay in hospital.

Teenea has many stories to tell us about her experiences working at other practices – be sure to ask her about the snake in the tyre!

Simone Hamilton
Simone HamiltonVeterinary Nurse
Simone is a Veterinary Nurse with 20 years experience in nursing. Simone graduated and enrolled in advanced nursing courses in 1998-1999. Her continued education courses included emergencies and anaesthetics which is only one aspect of the job that she really enjoys. Simone very much enjoys the successful management and running of puppy preschool classes. She enjoys educating future puppy generations on socialisation skills and husbandry. Simone has worked in a few hospitals in the local area for many years. She has gained the largest amount of experience and pleasure from her commitment to quality of care to her patients over the years. Simone is a proud mum to her fourteen year old twins Caitlyn and Josh. Simone’s partner is Mark. Simone enjoys caring for her animals that she has adopted over the years which include 1 horse, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, 2 goldfish, 15 tropical fish and 8 snakes. Simone has no interest in sports, hobbies or holidays as she has too much responsibility at home she says.
Sarah Klanecek
Sarah KlanecekVeterinary Nurse
Sarah has been with Balgownie Veterinary Hospital since 2016, she has been working as a Veterinary Nurse for one year now and she absolutely loves it. Sarah graduated from Yallah TAFE in 2013. Sarah has a fiance named Rhys who she has been with for 7 years. Sarah has a Stock horse x Quarter horse named Macca, 2 American Staffies named Bella and Sophie and 2 cats named Skyleigh and Chealsie. Sarah runs the kitten adoption program, she ensures the kittens are doing well and makes sure everything is ready to go. Sarah enjoys reception duties and assisting with surgeries. In her spare time she enjoys horse riding, swimming, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
